DEDHAM, MA (October 19, 2006) – In its most recent show of support of America’s troops, RNK Telecom, a leading telecommunications service provider, with its long-standing partner, the USO of New England, today announced that its SubjectTalk™ Integrated Discussion Service, branded USO New England Talk (http://www.usonewengland.org/index.html), has been incorporated into the USO of New England Web site. This innovative service provides the families of soldiers deployed overseas a forum to make new friends and talk to individuals in similar circumstances, finding support and companionship when they truly need it most.

This integration provides a searchable, Web-based listing of subjects tied to phone numbers into which people can directly call at any time and engage in person-to-person conversations about almost any subject. Current subjects on the USO New England Talk site focus on the needs of service members’ loved ones. From more serious topics, such as the loss of financial income and adjusting to a service member’s return home from duty, to activity-related topics including local and children friendly events, family and friends can now engage in conversation with others who know just how they’re feeling. As USO New England Talk users become familiar with the service, they can submit additional topics they want to discuss for approval and posting, and schedule convenient times to talk.

The USO of New England provides a wide range of support services to the spouses and families of individuals deployed in the United States’ Armed Forces. Activities of note include connecting families via phone and video broadcasts, developing support groups and organizing social functions. USO New England Talk represents the group’s latest effort.

The USO of New England will use USO New England Talk to put spouses and significant others in touch with each other to discuss a wide array of issues related to their loved ones’ deployment, and will connect these people to share information about local events and services as they adjust to a difficult new environment.
